Creating The Future – What’s it all about?
We’ve created this event because we’re passionate about the issues affecting us in the future. And we want you to be part of it.
Creating The Future will explore some of the world’s most exciting developments – including AI as a force for good, driverless cars, and regenerative medicine. We will also face facts about some eye-opening issues like plastic pollution and climate change, and hear from some of the best minds on how we can tackle them.
Mike Dickson, philanthropist and co-creator of the conference who secured the exceptional speakers says, "All the speakers are working on practical solutions to create a better future, that are brilliant, brave and inspiring".
Moderated by Oli Barrett, MBE, the speakers include futurist Mark Stevenson who will set the scene and explore how today’s democracy, business, climate management and financial systems need to be organised differently and urge us to provide moral leadership or face the consequences. Dr Scilla Elworthy founder of the Oxford Research Group, who has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize, will make the business case for peace. Ed Fidoe, co-founder of School 21, a government-funded but autonomous free school, will tackle the question: is the current school curriculum fit for purpose? Dr Aseem Malhotra, award-winning cardiologist and one of the most influential health campaigners in Britain, successfully leading the campaign against excess sugar consumption will talk about the imperative to treat ourselves and argue that simple lifestyle changes can prove more effective than taking prescription drugs. And Liz Parrish, Founder and CEO of BioViva, will discuss the potential for mass market gene therapy which could dramatically slow down the ageing process.
"The best way to predict your future is to create it.”
Abraham Lincoln
