Dorothea Birss

Associate Private Banker

Dorothea joined Weatherbys in 2023 as an Associate Private Banker based in our London office. Day to day she supports Private Bankers, assisting with a wide range of clients and cases, enjoying the variety this brings. She is also part of the Landed Estates team, where she is particularly interested in estate diversification and sustainability.

Dorothea developed her knowledge on the economy of agriculture and sustainability at the University of Cambridge, where she completed her undergraduate degree. During this time, she carried out extensive work helping the university better support LGBT+ students and captained her college’s women’s football team.

After graduating from Emmanuel College, Cambridge, with a double first class degree in Geography, Dorothea grew her knowledge further by completing a Master’s with Distinction in the Anthropology of Food at SOAS. This included conducting research into the future of British food systems, concerns regarding sustainability and farming diversification schemes. It was this interest in the future of farming that brought Dorothea to Weatherbys following her Master’s.

Since joining Weatherbys, Dorothea has gained professional qualifications including CeMAP (Level 3) and her Investment Advice Diploma (Level 4). In 2024 she will be focusing on becoming a Private Client Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM) professional.

Outside of working hours, Dorothea is a keen cook and loves trying out new recipes for her friends and family.
