Wotton has over 20 years’ experience in the SM&E arena, having led the SM&E team at Coutts and held similar roles in the private banking divisions of Barclays and HSBC.

Wotton, who is both a Chartered Banker and a Chartered Wealth Manager, said: “I chose to join Weatherbys because I was so impressed with its entrepreneurial approach.

“Its industry-leading client satisfaction scores also speak volumes. This is clearly a bank that truly believes in going the extra mile and putting clients first in everything it does.”

Wotton added: “‘The Weatherbys Way’ is obviously proving highly successful, as shown by the business’s ongoing growth, and I’m extremely keen to introduce more clients to it.

“I believe Weatherbys can serve as an ideal platform for delivering expert guidance to sportspeople, media figures and entertainers, as well as the people who support them.

“That’s why – to use a sporting phrase – I’m very much looking forward to fulfilling my player-manager role here.”

Oliver Barnett, Head of Private Clients, said: “Matt is an acknowledged leader in the SME sector, and we’re absolutely delighted to welcome him to our team.

“This is another appointment that illustrates the extent of our long-term ambitions and our determination to provide clients with a truly outstanding level of service and high-quality advice.”

Strengthening the private banking team

Luke Page, Principal Private Banker at Weatherbys Private Bank

We also recently welcomed Luke Page, who joined from Investec as a Principal Private Banker with a particular focus on law firm partners.

Page has extensive experience of working with partners at leading law firms. He spent almost 11 years at Coutts – eight as a private banker – before moving to Investec in 2022.

He said: “I’ve spent the past decade and more specialising in understanding and meeting the financial needs of senior professionals in the legal sphere and other arenas.

“Weatherbys has recently been expanding its coverage of these areas, and I’m really excited to have the opportunity to help the business build on what is already an excellent offering.”
