Championing a people-first approach

We believe that banking and finance should be more human. Having been a family-owned business since 1770, our success has always been built on human connections. Our leaders are strong people advocates, which results in a culture where everyone’s valued for the unique skills, experience and perspective they bring. Collaboration is key. We learn from each other and support each other to succeed.

A more human approach to finance

When people join Weatherbys, they talk about the way we do business as a breath of fresh air. Whatever our job title, we’re all accessible, approachable and responsive. We don’t get caught up in red tape or bureaucratic processes and we don’t hide behind technology or systems. We just get things done, together, for our clients and each other.

A flexible approach to work-life balance

At Weatherbys, we don’t believe one size fits all. We support our people as individuals, working in partnership to provide hybrid and flexible options that help everyone balance their work and life responsibilities.

Kafaya Ayilara, Senior Project Manager at Weatherbys Banking Group

Kafaya’s story

“The down-to-earth nature of people here is in stark contrast to other places I have worked. I never met any of the CEOs at my previous workplaces, but I have had lunch with Weatherbys CEO, Quentin, three times already! The human being is always put before the job title here.”
Senior Project Manager

Caroline Cotter, Operations Assurance Office at Arkle Finance

Caroline’s story

“I love our events and social days. Since I’ve been here I’ve enjoyed our race days, sports days and many Christmas parties. At our Brand Value Awards you can really feel our culture and values come to life. It’s good to see our directors let their hair down.”

Callum Hill, Principal Private Banking Executive at Weatherbys Banking Group

Callum’s story

“I’ve seen first-hand how we put people first at Weatherbys, be it by working tirelessly to help a client when they needed to restructure their finances because of illness, or by providing me with flexible paternity leave. I have been trusted to manage my own time, working between private and business banking, without being micromanaged.”

Company event highlights

Keeping connected

From going to the races, to volunteering at a local foodbank, coming along to our monthly drinks, or building a network through our Creating Connections groups, there are many ways to get involved in our Weatherbys community.

Race days

Every July, we hold our summer race day at Newmarket. Everyone has the chance to attend at least every other year, getting to know colleagues from across the Group, receiving advice from professional tipsters and enjoying a three-course meal and drinks.

Sports and social events

Our Sports and Social Committee is busy every year, organising events from subsidised family fun days to comedy evenings. Badminton and golf, quizzes, Couch to 5k groups, a wreath-making workshop and a Macmillan Coffee Morning are all examples of our activities together.

Viva Engage

Across our four sites in London, Edinburgh, Wellingborough and Manchester, we keep up a lively conversation with each other through our employee communication network, Viva Engage.

Our values

We live our values every day. Here are just a few examples of how they’re brought to life by our people.

Forward looking

We’re always looking for ways to do things better, from our technology transformation programme to our marketing rebranding project and the launch of our new business banking services.

Individual

We never take a one-size-fits-all approach, whether we’re working tirelessly to help a client when they needed to restructure their finances because of illness, or providing flexible paternity leave to a team member.

Responsive

Independence allows us to be flexible and efficient. At Weatherbys it’s easy to talk directly to the person who can solve your problem, whether you’re a client or a colleague.

Straightforward

We make things as easy as possible for our clients and each other. We’re not bound by bureaucracy, so we don’t ask our clients to fill out long forms or go through lengthy processes to get things done.

Trusted

Integrity lies at the heart of everything we do. We build long-term relationships that last generations because our clients trust our judgement, our high standards and our track record of building sustainable growth.

People first

Independence allows us to be flexible and efficient. At Weatherbys it’s easy to talk directly to the person who can solve your problem, whether you’re a client or staff.

Juggling work and parenthood – James, Senior Private Banking Executive

“I was allowed the flexibility to work from home as needed to manage nursery drop-offs and pick-ups for my two-year-old son. It allowed me to maintain a healthy work-life balance and fully support my wife’s career.”

Managing a chronic condition – Lauren, Test Analyst

I suffer with endometriosis. The company has been very understanding of my situation and has always offered me support to take time off for appointments or work from home on the more painful days.”

Caring for relatives – Shirley, Senior Private Banker

“I have elderly parents and a parent-in-law, so I needed more time in my week to help them. I currently work four days a week to achieve that.”
