Gareth joined Weatherbys in September 2019 as our Head of Compliance, bringing with him over 25 years’ experience in financial services having worked in internal audit, compliance, risk, operations and first line assurance.
Gareth is a professionally qualified Chartered Internal Auditor and Chartered Banker, as well as holding an honours degree from the University of Birmingham in Banking and Finance. Other professional achievements include CeMap, the Investment Management Certificate, a BSc from the London Institute of Banking and Finance in ‘Financial Services and Associateship’ and Certification in Risk and Assurance from the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors.
Prior to joining Weatherbys, he was Head of Risk and Compliance at St. James’s Place. Before that, Gareth spent 10 years at C Hoare & Co., six as Head of Internal Audit before moving to the Relationship Banking Team as Head of Business Operations. Prior to this, after graduating from the University of Birmingham, he joined Price Waterhouse on a three-year chartered accountancy training contract. He then joined Wesleyan Financial Services as their Investment Management Compliance Officer, and during his 10 years there became their Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Head of Internal Audit.
Outside of Weatherbys, Gareth enjoys classical music, and he has performed with the Welsh National Opera. He is also a keen Welsh rugby fan – holding a debenture at the Principality Stadium – and he is a member of Kenilworth Golf Club where he plays as often as possible while trying to juggle time with his family and pet dog.
