Invest in your future

At Weatherbys, our focus is on nurturing the next generation of talent. Our Private Bank Internship Programme is designed for students with a keen interest in private banking and financial services.

An internship with us offers real-world experience, expert guidance and a great introduction to a career in the industry.

We offer a limited number of places each summer, and if successful, you will get the chance to work on live projects, contribute to real business challenges and gain insight into all our services and departments. It’s a hands-on experience, and many past interns return to join us full time after their studies.

What to expect

Depending on where you’re located, you will work alongside experienced teams across the business – from client-facing roles in banking, business development and investment advice to central functions like IT, HR, finance, risk, compliance, marketing and operations. It’s a chance to build commercial awareness, develop professional skills and get a good, all-round view of what a career at Weatherbys could look like.

Typically, our internships start towards the end of June or beginning of July and run for eight weeks. They’re office-based, either in either London, Edinburgh or Wellingborough.

My internship at Weatherbys Private Bank

Mia Warren, Risk Intern

“My internship at Weatherbys was instrumental in building my confidence in a professional context. I was given the opportunity to build new skills in an area of banking I had previously been unfamiliar with. My time working in the risk department has subsequently allowed me to harness a deeper understanding of risk management strategies which have continued to be applicable in my work.

Despite not having a background in finance, I was encouraged to take on challenging tasks. Most importantly, I was supported by a welcoming team who gave me the guidance and feedback I needed to make the most of my internship.

Cameron Brogan–Higgins (now a permanent member of the Weatherbys team)

“The internship offered by Weatherbys was such an invaluable experience for me. I can truly say it granted me and the other interns a unique exposure to a wide level of management and experiences. Getting to work at Weatherbys in the way we did was a rare opportunity. Not only did the work I was involved in have an impact on the company and actually make a difference, the people I engaged with were also incredibly helpful, everyone from interns alongside me all the way to senior management.

Having taken part in internships in banking before, I can say with honesty the exposure to real work and the impact you have is remarkable. The experience was also greatly enjoyable as Weatherbys has quite a special and welcoming work culture I had not seen previously, which is so refreshing to be a part of and makes working for Weatherbys more meaningful.

During the internship I had flexibility in lateral movement amongst teams, support from managers and coworkers, fun events to attend and what felt like a really good proper step into the world of banking. I couldn’t emphasise more how much of a good opportunity it was. The internship led me to the role I’m in today. Few people I know can really say that they enjoy their work and love their job, but the Weatherbys internship ultimately gave me that privilege.”

Ayush Mehta, Private Client Intern

“My internship at Weatherbys Private Bank was an incredibly rewarding experience. I was given meaningful responsibilities that allowed me to develop my analytical and interpersonal skills while gaining invaluable insights into Private Banking.

The supportive and collaborative culture made it easy to learn from highly experienced professionals, and I always felt encouraged to ask questions and contribute. The internship helped deepen my understanding of client-focused financial services. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to kick-start their journey in Private Banking.”
