EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR DEBIT CARD

A Weatherbys Private Bank debit card will give you flexiblity and security. Your card gives complete access to your Weatherbys bank accounts, allowing you to make payments and withdraw cash at millions of locations globally, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

ACTIVATING YOUR NEW CARD

When you receive your new Weatherbys debit card, you must sign it immediately and then call us to activate it for you. Your card is sent to you ‘inactive’ to ensure that if it is intercepted in the mail, it cannot be used.

As soon as your new card is activated, we will send you the PIN by text message, which means you can begin using it straight away.

USING YOUR CARD

At Weatherbys we pride ourselves on being flexible, and our debit card is no exception. Our partnership with Visa means that you will be able to use your card globally, wherever you see the Visa sign displayed. Your card will be automatically enrolled with Verified by Visa for online purchases which helps to protect your account against unauthorised use

You will be able to complete transactions in retail outlets, online, use it to make payments over the phone and withdraw money from cash machines (ATMs) both in the UK and overseas. 

Weatherbys will never charge you to withdraw money from cash machines in the UK, however some independent retailers may levy a small charge, but this will be clearly signposted during the transaction on the ATM.

Changing the PIN number

You can change your Weatherbys debit card PIN at any Visa ATM in the UK. Just insert your card and follow the on-screen instructions.

Contactless Payments

Your new debit card has been equipped with contactless technology, making it easier and more convenient for you to purchase goods on the go, up to the value of £30. Should you accidentally tap the contactless reader twice, the card has been set up to ensure you will never be charged more than once for a transaction.

Please note, the first transaction you make with a new card cannot be contactless and must be made using the PIN.

Spending Limits

We don’t have standard spending limits on our cards, however we do employ bespoke daily spend caps on your card which help to protect against fraudulent activity. We do recognise that all of our clients are individuals with different needs, so if you want to check your daily spend cap, change it, or make a particularly large payment, simply contact your Private Banker.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR CARD

In the unfortunate event that your card is lost or stolen, do not panic. Simply call the Bank Helpdesk on +44 01933 304 777 and our team will be on hand to help you out. We will ensure you recieve a replacement or have access to funds as soon as possible.

USING YOUR CARD OUTSIDE THE UK

The Weatherbys debit card is simple and straightforward to use when you go abroad;
 

  • No fees for overseas transactions;
  • No fees for overseas ATM cash withdrawals;
  • No cap on the amount you spend or withdraw, if you have cleared funds available; and
  • Our currency conversion is extremely competitive at the VISA conversion rate with no additional charges added by Weatherbys.

BEWARE OF HIDDEN CHARGES USING SOME CARDS ABROAD

FRAUD PROTECTION

Pin Security

Never tell anyone your PIN or write it down. If you have forgotten your PIN, contact the Bank Helpdesk on +44(0) 1933 304777. A reminder can be sent to you by text message, or in the post. You can change your PIN at any Visa ATM in the UK.

If you input your PIN incorrectly 3 times your card will be temporarily blocked for security. If this happens please contact the helpdesk.

Suspicious Activity

We monitor all card transactions for fraud 24/7/365. If we identify a suspicious transaction, its important for us to check it with you as soon as possible.

We, or our out of hours service centre, may call you between the hours of 8am and 10pm. Your card will be temporarily blocked to avoid any further loss until we have checked the transaction with you. If you receive a call outside normal banking hours, it will be from our out of hours service team. You don’t have to speak with them unless you want to but your card will remain blocked for your security in the meantime.

If we do block your card because we have identified a suspicious transaction we will also notify you immediately by text message so that you can call us at your convenience if you are not able, or do not wish to take a call from us or our agents.
